From the President – Joe
Furino
Welcome to my page. If you are already a member, feel free to
give me any constructive feedback for myself, our club, or our golf
course. If you are thinking of
becoming a member, now is the time…and Dairy Creek is the place.
I became a member
three years ago, after asking around as to which club was active, yet friendly. Everyone agreed the club to choose was
the Dairy Creek Men’s Club, and it is my goal to continue that
consensus through my term in office.
We try to have about
14 or15 Saturday tournaments per year with gross and net winners, closest
to the pin, (optional) skins, and if the turnout is large enough…two
flights of net winners. Our last two
tournaments had about 80 participants each, and had three flights of
winners.
Send an e-mail to me,
or other officers if you have any questions. Come out and play, meet new friends or
see old friends, and have a good time playing golf with the Dairy Creek
Men’s Golf Club.
Joe Furino, President
for 2010
Tournament News
2009 was another fun
tournament year, and our 2010 schedule will offer similar opportunities for
our members to enjoy our club offerings. In addition to our regular
tournaments, we held a Home-and-Home with Chalk
Mountain and are attempting to
schedule a similar event with Morro
Bay and/or Rancho
Maria clubs for 2010.
As usual, the tournament sign-up sheet
will be available in the pro shop next to the computer. Also, you may
e-mail Creighton Decker (morroan@charter.net), or Kent Lauble (kent@centralcoastgolf.com) to register. We will consider
accommodating special requests for tee times, while continuing to maintain
integrity and fairness to the field when considering such requests. Tee
times will generally be e-mailed Thursday evening, and posted in the pro
shop Friday. Tournament fees will be collected at check-in, and we ask that
you check-in no later than 1/2
hour prior to your tee time.
As usual, the tournament committee is
always looking for ways to improve our tournaments, and increase
participation. It is your club, so your inputs are encouraged, and will be
appreciated.
Distance
measuring devices are allowed.
As of
January 1st 2006, DCMGC has enacted a policy matching the USGA
recommendation.
Cell phone ringing ban, use restriction.
"Heretofore, any cell phone, pager or other electronic device
making sound that attracts the attention of any player during a stipulated
round, whether it interrupts play or not, will incur a two-stroke penalty.
A second incidence will result in disqualification." It is preferable that no cell
phone be taken on the course at all. However, if a player must
be electronically available during a tournament, it is mandatory that he
configure his cell phone for silent operation. He may then place an
outgoing cell phone call after his group has putted-out on a given green,
and must end it before anyone in his group tees-off on the next hole.
